Alistair joined HFW in 2000. He specialises in handling disputes, including in relation to crude oil, petroleum products and LNG; shipbuilding and offshore structures; yacht sale and purchase, refit, and charters. His clients include national and international energy companies, trading companies, and ship/yacht designers, builders, owners and charterers.

Alistair has acted for clients in proceedings before the High Court and Court of Appeal in London and in ICC, LCIA, SIAC, LMAA and ad hoc arbitration. His recent Court cases include Salt Ship Design v. Prysmian Powerlink [2021] EWHC 2633 (Comm); Septo Trading v. Tintrade [2021] EWCA Civ 718 (Comm); BP Oil International v. Vega Petroleum & anor [2021] EWHC 1364 (Comm); and Forum International Services v. OOS International [2020] EWHC 170 (Comm).
