About Vivien

Vivien is an Of Counsel based in Hong Kong and one of the rare Hong Kong‑qualified lawyers with specialised expertise in aviation liability. With a broad and well‑rounded practice, she has extensive experience advising aviation and insurance clients across both contentious and non‑contentious matters. Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, she supports clients locally and internationally, particularly across Greater China.

On the contentious side, Vivien represents a wide range of industry stakeholders including major airlines, airports, ground handling agents, cargo terminals, MROs, business jet operators and their insurers. She advises on disputes such as contractual and commercial claims, passenger and crew injuries, and baggage and cargo matters.

Having entered law school at merely 17 years old and joining the legal industry by the time she was 22, Vivien has handled close to 400 disputes arising out of civil aviation operations. She has also played key roles in supporting the world’s largest aviation insurance programme based in China and defending claims for a major Hong Kong‑based airline.

Her regulatory and investigation experience is equally extensive. Vivien has represented individuals and corporations in proceedings brought by public authorities, supported clients in Chinese and English interviews conducted by the Hong Kong Police, the Air Accident Investigation Authority as well as other governmental departments, and advised on air accidents involving fatal claims.

On the non‑contentious side, she advises on Chinese and English commercial contracts, including drafting and negotiation, interpreting contractual provisions, assessing exposure and advising on insurance coverage and regulatory issues.

Beyond client work, Vivien is a sought‑after aviation law trainer who frequently delivers seminars, workshops and publications.
