About Stephen
Stephen is an Associate in HFW’s Shipping team, based in London. He specialises in regulatory and compliance cases, including economic and financial sanctions. He advises on EU, UK and US sanctions law and has advised owners of a wide variety of vessels (including tankers, containers, yachts and even tourist vessels) on how to comply with international sanctions and how to effectively manage any compliance risks that may arise in relation to sanctions. Stephen has also advised logistics entities and commodities traders on how to navigate the regulatory landscape relating to sanctions.
Stephen regularly advises insurers on complex sanctions queries and has experience advising on both claims and any issues relating to underwriting. Stephen also has experience advising insurers on their legal obligations and ensuring compliance with any outstanding regulatory requirements.
He has prior in-house Government experience which strengthens his regulatory background.
Stephen is qualified in England and Wales.
