Simon is a Legal Director in HFW’s Insurance & Reinsurance team.
Simon specialises in international commercial dispute resolution, focusing on the insurance and reinsurance sector. He advises on major insurance and reinsurance losses, usually complex, cross-border and high-value, across various lines including energy and power (onshore and offshore), construction/CAR/EAR, property, BI/DSU, marine (H&M, war risks, cargo), liability/casualty, financial lines, D&O, specie and reinsurance. As well as advising on insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes, he has experience of general commercial dispute resolution, defence of claims against assureds, subrogated recoveries, policy/wording reviews, and general risk management matters. In addition to court litigation and arbitration, Simon has a wide range of experience in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation.
Simon was named a “Key Lawyer” in Legal 500 UK 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 for Insurance & Reinsurance. He is also ranked as a lawyer “To Watch” in Chambers Latin America 2027 for Insurance – International Counsel which states that he is “particularly adept at handling matters relating to the marine, construction and energy sectors”.
Simon is fluent in French and German.
