About Peter
Peter is a Costs Lawyer (as opposed to a Solicitor), has dealt with complex costs issues covering many areas of the law and has attended many costs related hearings throughout the country, both justifying and opposing costs.
In 2007, the then Senior Costs Judge, Master Hurst awarded him the Association of Law Costs Draftsman (ALCD) Cup for the highest mark of the Associate examination in the country.
Peter is head of HFW’s costs department and regularly advises on costs related matters in high profile and high quantum commercial litigation, often involving numerous jurisdictions. Peter has been involved in a wide variety of costs cases including the justification and opposition of costs in arbitration (including international), substantial High Court Matters, costs in the Court of Appeal, Privy Council, Employment Appeals Tribunals and UK Supreme Court (and previously House of Lords).
HFW being an international law firm, Peter provides costs advice to all offices across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. Peter is a member of HFW’s Funding Committee and works as an integral part of the firm’s Disputes teams in this particular role, with a focus of the estimation and monitoring of legal spends, together with advising upon Alternative Fee Arrangements.
