About Patrick
Patrick is a Legal Director in the firm’s commodities group.
With over 20 years’ experience, Patrick’s main work areas are a mixture of “long haul” international trade and shipping litigation, but also day to day “short haul” fire-fighting type support to clients in the course of the operation of their contracts.
Over the years Patrick has dealt with a large variety of cases for buyers and sellers, owners and charterers, and shipbuilders and ship repairers, as well as for or on behalf of P&I Clubs and other insurers. These have included claims under commodity sale and purchase contracts, bill of lading and charterparty disputes, unsafe port claims, claims in general average and incidents of total loss – in the Commercial Court, in LMAA, LCIA, GAFTA and FOSFA arbitrations, as well as in mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He has been involved with several appeals to the Court of Appeal, and also with an appeal to the then House of Lords.
Patrick has extensive procedural experience in these and other forums, including with anti-suit injunctions, freezing orders, and ship arrests and other forms of security attachments, and has also spent time working in Holman Fenwick Willan’s overseas offices, and on secondment to commercial clients and to a P&I Club.
