Mike Bunton

About Mike

Mike is a Master Mariner in our London office and forms part of our Shipping Emergency Response team. Mike primarily deals with marine casualties, including collisions, groundings, fires, explosions, marine pollution, loss of stability, cargo claims and salvage. He is also part of HFW’s Yachts Crisis Management team.

Prior to joining HFW, Mike spent 13 years seagoing in a range of passenger and cargo vessels before moving into the Offshore Energy sector, working on pipelay and subsea construction vessels including command.  Moving ashore in 2021, he joined a major maritime administration working extensively on next generation navigation technologies and navigation safety before joining HFW.

Mike has experience of electronic navigation, ECDIS, Dynamic positioning, sailing yachts, as well as executing complex offshore operations and has been involved in updating maritime regulations at an international level.
