About Matthew
Matthew is a Partner in HFW’s Shipping team, heading the teams Logistics and Ports & Terminals practices. Matthew acts for owners, charterers, carriers, logistics companies and NVOCs, terminal operators, cargo interests, and marine insurers. Matthew advises across a range of shipping work, including dispute resolution and in a commercial advisory role. Matthew’s dispute practice typically involves issues arising out of the carriage of goods under charterparties, COAs, sea freight agreements, VSAs, bills of lading.
On the advisory side, Matthew supports clients with new business ventures and projects; global regulatory issues; commercial contracts and standard terms in the shipping, logistics and terminals sectors; and insurance policy or regulatory work.
Matthew is particularly well known for his expertise in logistics and supply chain where he acts for some of the world’s largest buyers and providers of logistics services as a trusted counsel advising on day-to-day legal and commercial matters, disputes, business critical issues and large-scale strategic projects. His work in this sector includes container and project cargoes, multimodal carriage, customs, warehousing, freight forwarding and end-to-end supply chain services.
