About Matthew
Matthew Knox is a Partner in HFW’s Corporate and Commercial team. He specialises in energy and resources, competition law and market regulation and consumer protection.
Based in our Perth office, Matthew provides strategic advice to governments, regulators, market operators and private clients on all aspects of Australia’s gas and electricity markets. His work includes drafting and negotiating agreements and drafting and interpreting market rules.
Matthew has also advised on, and designed, a number of regulatory regimes including access regimes to significant infrastructure, specific industry regulation such as ride sharing and retail gas, electricity, and water markets. He brings a wealth of experience in navigating the intricacies of competition law, including representing clients before regulators and in legal proceedings before Courts and specialist Tribunals.
In recognition of his extensive experience in the energy industry, Matthew was appointed by the WA Government to the panel of legal practitioners for the Electricity Review Board.
