About Jonathan
Jonathan is a Legal Director in HFW’s Shipping team, based in Singapore. He has over 15 years’ experience advising clients on admiralty and shipping, insurance and commercial disputes, and has acted as lead counsel in matters before the Singapore courts and in arbitration.
Prior to practising law, Jonathan served as a naval combat officer in the Republic of Singapore Navy. He has six years of sea-going experience, including ship handling, navigation and deck operations, providing him with a practical understanding of the maritime industry and the operational challenges faced by clients.
Jonathan’s practice focuses on shipping and admiralty disputes, marine insurance and commercial litigation. He regularly advises shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, bunker suppliers, insurers and banks on a broad range of contentious matters, including casualty investigations, vessel collisions, marine insurance disputes, contracts of carriage / bills of lading disputes, mortgage enforcement, bunker disputes, shipbuilding claims and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
