About Joanne
Joanne is an Associate in HFW’s Commodities team, based in Perth. She is an experienced litigator, having acted for and advised major insurers, mining and resource companies, rail operators, retailers, live exporters, meat industry bodies and government departments in a wide variety of litigious cases over 20 years.
Joanne has built diverse expertise across regulatory cases and civil litigation, advising clients operating in both national and international regulatory environments. Her experience includes guiding organisations through complex disputes and conducting investigations into the conduct of legal practitioners during her time with the regulator of the legal profession in Western Australia.
In her civil litigation work, Joanne has acted for corporate clients across a broad range of contentious matters and has represented major insurers in disputes involving liability, professional indemnity, management liability, business interruption, life insurance, motor vehicle CTP and employers’ indemnity policies. Her cases have included a coronial inquest into the death of a child, claims arising from catastrophic injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents and disputes involving aviation hull damage, defective marine engines, contaminated sites, and damage to buildings neighbouring construction projects.
