About James
James is an Associate in HFW’s Construction team, specialising in construction and engineering law. He advises on both contentious and non-contentious cases, with a particular focus on dispute resolution and avoidance.
Since joining HFW in 2020, James has advised contractors and employers on a wide range of projects, including rail, energy, ports & terminals, tunnelling and process plants. His work is particularly focused on large infrastructure and energy projects, where he provides strategic advice to help clients navigate complex contractual and operational challenges.
James has experience guiding clients through the entire lifecycle of disputes, from early strategic advice to resolution. He regularly acts in high-value energy and infrastructure disputes and has represented clients in litigation before the Technology and Construction Court (TCC), international arbitration, and adjudication. He has advised on disputes involving delay, disruption, variations, defects, termination, and misrepresentation.
James is a member of the Society of Construction Law (SCL) and the Adjudication Society. He is qualified in England & Wales.
