About Jake
Jake sits in the Fraud & Insolvency team and specialises in insolvency-related matters spanning the contentious and non-contentious spectrum.
On the contentious side, he focuses on complex, cross-jurisdictional cases involving corporate fraud, misfeasance, asset tracing, freezing injunctions and enforcement, frequently advising insolvency officeholders as well as debtors, creditors, directors and financial sponsors. His non-contentious practice entails corporate restructurings, distressed sales and related transactions. He advises corporate board members and senior management on navigating the pre-insolvency “twilight-zone”, as well as creditors on their security positions in anticipation of insolvency events.
More broadly, Jake has experience with large (non-insolvency-related) litigation and arbitration in the (re)insurance, commodities and marine sectors. He has also advised clients operating in the shipping and energy sectors on commercial, corporate and finance transactions.
Jake’s client base is global and includes clients operating in the United States, Latin America, United Kingdom, European Union, China, South Korea, Gulf Arab states, Sub-Saharan Africa and various offshore jurisdictions.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jake worked as a professional services consultant in London primarily advising distressed and special situations and private credit funds on talent acquisition strategies.
Jake is qualified in England & Wales and is a member of the Wadham Law Society (University of Oxford). A US national, he is originally from North Carolina, having moved to the United Kingdom in 2017.
