About Grant
Grant Covington is a special counsel in our Insurance & Reinsurance team. He is a coverage, insurance and litigation specialist who has worked for all major local insurers and number of Lloyds’ syndicates, in both primary and excess layer capacities. Grant specialises in financial lines of insurance, advising on claims against professional indemnity, D&O, management liability, financial institutions, broadform, and specialist lines policies.
Grant has represented one of the world’s largest insurers on their notifications from the major banks and AMP arising from the Royal Commission into banking misconduct, and in relation to the civil and regulatory litigation, investigations and remediation schemes arising from those notifications. He has acted for defendants in class actions such as the Gunns class action, the Ashley Services class action, and as monitoring counsel in respect of the Oz Minerals class action.
Grant has acted for clients in complex litigation arising from the collapse of Babcock & Brown, the travel compensation claim following the collapse of Ansett, claims arising from the collapse of About Life chain of grocery stores, and in complex, multi-party coverage disputes, including those involving CIMIC, CBA and AMP. He has also acted for a major accounting practice defending claims for in excess of $100 million involving the administration of a major wine business.
