Michael Maxwell is  a Partner in the Commodities team. He acts for clients on regulatory, dispute resolution and international risk cases. Michael’s legal skills are complemented by his postgraduate scientific research background.

His work encompasses regulatory investigations and defence of prosecutions, corporate governance and sustainability, supply chain obligations, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, anti-money laundering, human rights, modern slavery, data security and privacy issues.

Michael’s extensive disputes resolution experience includes a wide range of complex litigious (test case/class actions), arbitration and advisory matters for leading Australian and multi-national companies from agribusiness, mining, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, transport and chemicals industries.

A longstanding focus of his disputes and regulatory experience is dealing with onerous regulatory environments and challenging international jurisdictions, including those that impose strict obligations on the international activities of Australian-based companies.
