About Carlita
Carlita is a Senior Associate in our Melbourne office who specialises in shipping and commodities sectors.
In the shipping sphere, she has broad experience in contentious matters acting on behalf of vessel owners, P&I clubs, charterers, freight forwarders, stevedores, vessel repairers and warehousing operators across matters involving shipbuilding, vessel arrests, damage to cargo or vessels as well as defending criminal proceedings in respect of environmental or animal welfare obligations. She particularly enjoys a strong relationship with local and international P&I clubs.
In the commodities sphere, she has acted on behalf of clients in respect of the contentious and non-contentious sale and purchase of commodities, and ancillary contracts of carriage (including bills of lading, charter parties and contracts of affreightment).
Carlita has acted on behalf of clients in most states across Australia, in both the superior and lower courts, and international arbitrations, including under LMAA and GAFTA Rules.
Carlita is an active member of the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association in Australia and has been on the Board of the Australian Council of the Mission to Seafarers Inc since 2022. In 2023, she was recognised in Doyles Guide as a Rising Star for Transport Law – Australia.
