Infrastructure Services Analyst
We are looking for an Infrastructure Services Analyst to join the Information Technology team.
The department
HFW IT is a high performing team that provides technology excellence enabled by a deep understanding of the Firm’s people and processes. The department is headquartered in London with points of presence located across each geographical region. The IT Operations team is responsible for the delivery of a global network, in close collaboration the IT Security and IT Service Delivery functions.
The role
The Infrastructure Services Analyst (SFIA level 3/4) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of infrastructure topologies within the firm including but not limited to servers, storage devices, firewalls, WAN, LAN, WIFI, Internet and unified communications. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring all devices are configured and operating in line with industry best practices and HFW IT policies. The individual will assist with any Infrastructure Projects, this will involve all aspects, planning, communication, implementation, and reporting.
The focus of the infrastructure team is our end users, and it is the aim of the team to ensure that their underlying infrastructure operates in a well maintained, controlled and consistent way. They will work with other colleagues to ensure that new systems and services are delivered in a secured manner and strike a sensible balance between being secure yet practical for our end users.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain all networking topologies, including but not limited to servers, storage devices, firewalls, WAN, LAN, WIFI, Internet and unified communications.
- Administer and monitor various systems including Windows Server, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, VMWare, VXRail, Cato Platform, Rubrik, Commvault, Juniper Mist, and APC.
- Vulnerability Analysis and Patch Management. Analyse vulnerabilities using SEIM (Rapid7) and manage patching of servers, appliances, and switches.
- Ensure that appropriate security controls are deployed and maintained across infrastructure in conjunction with the IT Security Team.
- Incident Management – responsible for technical troubleshooting. In the event of configuration changes required, must invoke the internal Change Management Process.
- Ensures accurate records are kept of infrastructure components, maintenance activities, network connections, accounts, and inventory by maintaining system documentation and the IT department Wiki.
- Liaise with and provide training and support to other IT colleagues to complete and cohesive IT service to our customers.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Respond to emergency outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Also, provide out of hours cover for technical escalations.
- Liaise with vendors and third parties for technical escalations and managed services under direction of the IT Manager (Infrastructure).
- Any other ad hoc duties as and when required.
About you
- Technical skills: In-depth IT skills and a broad range of IT knowledge are vital to the role. A strong awareness of best practice techniques and solutions within the areas of servers, networking, firewalls, cloud services (Azure & M365) and end user devices. An ability to understand and explain IT solutions and issues to a non-technical audience is desirable.
- Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Well-presented and business-like. Able to get on with others and be a team-player.
- Business Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively with real understanding and empathy for the customer. Should seek to position the customer and the customer’s interests first and foremost in every decision.
Key skills and experience required
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an IT system or infrastructure administrator role managing a complex and global IT environment.
- Experience of working in an ITIL operational process environment and ideally having worked within an ISO 27001 accredited environment or equivalent.
- Well-developed troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effectively prioritise and execute tasks and can adapt to shifting priorities in the daily workload.
- A good understanding of working with the business to align IT solutions with business needs.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Professional manner with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
- Dedicated and hard working.
- Flexible regarding working hours – normal office hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm, but change windows are likely to require work outside this time.
Technical skills
Essential working knowledge of:
- Cloud hosted services and applications, Exchange online, Teams, OneDrive & SharePoint Online (M365 apps)
- Azure IaaS, configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting
- Cato SESE Firewalls, CASB, ZTNA
- Juniper Mist, monitoring of Juniper switches and Access Points
- On-Prem NetApp storage systems
- SolarWinds monitoring
- Flexpod UCS and Dell VxRail systems
- VMware vSphere, ESXi/vSAN/vCenter
- PowerShell and automation scripting
- Windows Server 2008 – 2025
- UCaaS platforms including MS Teams
- Microsoft infrastructure technologies including DHCP, DNS, WINS, Active Directory, Group Policy
Preferred working knowledge of:
- Commvault and Rubrik
- Network switches, Cisco, Juniper, Dell
- Subnets, vLAN, TCP/IP,
- WAN including MPLS, LES, SDWAN, internet networks
- Site to site and client VPN and Zero trust systems
- Networking protocols, SIP, ISDN, OSPF/BGP
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Operations processes and best practises
Preferred skills and qualifications (or equivalent workplace experience)

- Mastering Microsoft Teams Voice (QA365TEAMSV)
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
- ITIL Foundation Version 3 or 4
