Independent data has revealed HFW to be the most active law firm in the English Commercial Court over the past four years.
HFW spent 165 days litigating in the Court between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2018, according to The Lawyer’s Litigation Tracker, which records cases and judgments in the UK courts.
No other law firm recorded more than 150 days in the Commercial Court over the same period, according to the data, with Magic Circle firm Allen & Overy ranked second, on 148 days.
Of the more than 300 law firms to have litigated in the English Commercial Court over the past four years, only three others had more than 100 case days during that period.
Noel Campbell, Head of Litigation, HFW:
“This data clearly shows that we are one of the market’s premier litigation practices. While HFW is best known for its sector focus, we are first and foremost a disputes firm, with contentious work accounting for more than two-thirds of our entire business globally. We pride ourselves on our experience and expertise as commercial litigators, and frequently appear on behalf of clients in courts around the world.”
HFW has one of the largest and most active disputes practices in the market, covering litigation, international arbitration and alternative forms of dispute resolution. The firm has more than 350 specialist disputes lawyers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, handling high-value, complex, multi-party and multi-jurisdictional disputes, including fraud and asset recovery, insolvency, class actions, and enforcement actions.
HFW was described by The Lawyer in a recent report as “the standout firm in commercial litigation”.
