Global, sector-focussed law firm HFW has won the Excellence in Maritime Law award at the Lloyd’s List South Asia, Middle East and Africa awards.

Lloyd’s List says the award, which was judged by a panel of industry leaders, recognises the law firm that offers “the best service to the maritime industry”.

HFW is widely recognised as the world’s leading shipping and maritime law firm, with more than 200 dedicated shipping lawyers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

The firm’s Middle East shipping team provide specialist advice to clients throughout the GCC region on dry shipping, admiralty and crisis management, and transactional work.

HFW also recently won Deal of the Year at the Seatrade Maritime Awards for the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa.

Yaman Al Hawamdeh, Shipping Partner, HFW Dubai:

“We are very proud to receive further industry recognition for the strength of our shipping and maritime practice in the Middle East. HFW has been the go-to advisor for the shipping industry for more than 135 years, and we will continue to develop our practice to ensure that we remain at the forefront of the sector, offering a market-leading service to clients in the Middle East and beyond.”

HFW has operated in the Middle East for over 13 years and now has one of the largest and fastest-growing practices of any international law firm in the region, with 18 partners and more than 50 lawyers – including 31 Arabic speakers – across offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait City and Riyadh. HFW has added eight new partners in the Middle East since April 2018, and entered into an association with a local practice in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.
