Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has launched an on-the-ground insurance practice in Switzerland with the relocation of Shane Gibbons as it seeks to further expand its leading offering globally.
Shane primarily advises on claims and coverage issues relating to complex insurance policies, with a particular focus on trade credit, professional indemnity and other financial lines. He previously spent five years in HFW’s Dubai office, as part of its top-ranked Middle East insurance team, and is qualified in England and Wales, and Ireland.
Shane will work closely with partners across HFW’s global insurance team that are active in Switzerland, including John Barlow in Dubai/Riyadh and Nigel Wick in London.
This follows HFW’s strengthening of its US insurance offering with the hire of disputes expert Amanda Kujda in Houston, while William Reddie, who specialises in corporate and regulatory insurance, was promoted to partner in the firm’s London office.
HFW has more than 65 specialist insurance and reinsurance lawyers across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, offering a comprehensive range of advisory, dispute resolution, transactional and regulatory legal services to clients throughout the sector.
The firm focuses on high value, complex and multi-party insurance and reinsurance matters, and as a non-aligned practice, acts for both the market and policyholders.
HFW is one of only two law firms ranked by Chambers for contentious claims, non-contentious insurance, and policyholder work in London.
HFW has been in Geneva for more than a decade and advises clients on all areas relating to the international sale of goods and shipping, including trade finance, corporate, commercial, regulatory, sanctions, and compliance.
