Global law firm HFW launches Global Regulatory Response service for clients looking for advice navigating recent legislative reporting changes which impact both internal operations and wider supply chain interactions.

An upcoming (and ongoing) stream of EU and non-EU legislation – affecting areas from financial to sustainability compliance and reporting – has increased pressure on companies to respond quickly and accurately. This may include responding to requests for reporting information and/or requirements for implementing due diligence procedures, in order to avoid penalties or mandated retrospective mitigation in the face of potential breaches.

With many businesses setting up internal procedures to respond to the raft of upcoming obligations and ensure their compliance amidst a changing regulatory landscape, HFW has launched its Global Regulatory Response service to ensure clients receive emergency legal advice at short notice from the firm’s global network if they find themselves facing new market regulations, unexpected investigations and enforcement action taken by regulators in key business sectors – shipping, commodities, insurance, aerospace, construction and energy.

As a part of the offering, the firm will have designated legal experts available for clients to contact both during and outside traditional business hours.

The service is available for businesses navigating a broad range of significant (and potentially time-critical) regulatory challenges including:

investigations and enforcement action brought by market regulators and government authorities (including the FCA, PRA, OFGEM, HMRC, OFSI and SFO, as well as equivalent authorities in the US, EU, Australia, Switzerland and elsewhere).

dawn raids connected to competition and antitrust matters.

economic crimes including bribery, money-laundering, fraud, tax evasion and sanctions offences.

responding to the immediate introduction of global sanctions amidst geopolitical conflicts.

advice relating to potentially significant inadvertent or suspected breaches of new reporting / due diligence rules, by companies or their wider supply chains.

The Global Regulatory Response emergency service complements the firm’s pre-existing emergency response service for cyber-related crisis incidents, marine and offshore emergencies, and major incidents in hostile environments arising from casualties, war, terrorism, political risks and kidnappings.

Adam Topping, Partner and Global Head of Regulatory, HFW:

“The recent and ongoing introduction of new financial and sustainability compliance/reporting legislation marks a significant shift in regulatory expectations for EU and non-EU businesses. Firms must now demonstrate robust oversight of their operations and supply chains, often under tight deadlines and intense scrutiny.

Our Global Regulatory Response service provides immediate access to specialist advice, helping clients manage compliance risks and respond effectively to investigations across multiple jurisdictions.”
