Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has continued to strengthen its fast-growing Middle East practice with the hire of partner Abdulrahman Al-Ohaly in Riyadh.

Abdulrahman has a broad contentious and non-contentious practice, including commercial litigation and corporate transactions, and joins HFW from DWF.

He becomes the fifth partner to join HFW in the Middle East over the past 18 months, following the arrival of Riyadh corporate partner Euan Pinkerton, Dubai construction partner Slava Kiryushin, and top-ranked Dubai shipping and offshore team Rob Lawrence and Ian Chung.

HFW also recently relocated aviation specialist Francesco Fiorilli from Dubai to Riyadh, and Master Mariner Shamsheer Singh from London to Dubai to become the only law firm with a Master Mariner in the Middle East.

HFW has been in the Middle East since 2006 and now has 20 partners and almost 60 lawyers in total across offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait City, and Riyadh, making it one of the largest practices of any international law firm in the region.

HFW recently became one of a select group of international law firms to receive a license from the Saudi Ministry of Justice to practice in the Kingdom.

Yaman Al Hawamdeh, UAE Managing Partner, HFW:

“This is another important development for HFW in the Middle East, and a further illustration of our deep and longstanding commitment to the region. Abdulrahman is an outstanding lawyer with a wealth of experience in the Kingdom, and is highly regarded by clients, his peers, and the wider legal community in Saudi. Our clients see significant business opportunities in Saudi and the Middle East, and we will continue to actively target leading partners and teams so that we can best support their activities in the region.”

Abdulrahman Al-Ohaly, Partner, HFW:

“I am very happy to be joining HFW. My decision stems from a desire to contribute to a firm known for its specialism, excellence, and integrity. HFW has a strong reputation for their commitment to providing legal assistance to their clients globally, and specifically in the region. I am aware of the growth plans HFW has, which is very exciting. I very much look forward to working with the team and contributing to the firm’s success.”

This continues a period of sustained growth for HFW globally, with the firm adding 26 new partners since the beginning of FY23, including a major team hire in Australia and further laterals in Hong Kong, London, Paris, and Singapore.

HFW also recently obtained approval to open an office in Shenzhen Qianhai to support its Greater Bay Area practice.
