Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has boosted its leading global insurance practice with the hire of partner Amanda J. Kujda.

Amanda is an insurance disputes expert and joins HFW’s Houston office from Hall Maines Lugrin.

HFW’s global insurance and reinsurance group now has 23 partners and 70 lawyers based in offices across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. The team provide a comprehensive range of advisory, dispute resolution, transactional and regulatory legal services to clients across the sector.

Jerry Kimmit, Houston Office Head, HFW:

“We are very pleased to welcome Amanda to HFW. She is a great addition to our growing insurance practice in Houston, and brings significant experience of handling cases for insurers and insureds all over the United States. Her expertise really complements our existing team of coverage and defense counsel, and further strengthens our insurance claims litigation offering in the US.”

Amanda specialises in insurance disputes, including coverage litigation and subrogation, as well as complex commercial litigation involving breach of contract action and product liability.

She also has significant experience serving as monitoring counsel for international and domestic excess carriers, with a particular focus on the energy and oil & gas sectors.

Amanda acts for international and US insurers, underwriters and MGAs, including Lloyd’s syndicates.

Amanda J. Kujda, Partner, HFW:

“It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to join one of the world’s leading insurance law firms. The size, breadth and international reach of HFW’s insurance group gives me a great platform to grow my practice and to really elevate the service I’m able to offer to my clients.”

HFW launched in Houston in 2017 via a fully-integrated merger with US law firm Legge, Farrow, Kimmitt, McGrath & Brown.

The team represents multinational clients in trials, appeals and arbitrations, as well as transactional and regulatory work in the energy, oil and gas, shipping, insurance, finance, and construction sectors.
