Global sector-focused law firm HFW has advised global metals miner First Quantum Minerals on its strategic investment in Prospect Resources Limited.
First Quantum Minerals is a Canadian-domiciled global metals and mining company producing mainly copper, gold and nickel. It is one of the world’s largest copper producers and has assets in Zambia, Spain, Mauritania, Australia, Finland, Turkey, Panama, Argentina and Peru.
Prospect Resources Limited is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange with exploration and development projects predominantly located in Africa.
The investment, which completed on 22 April 2025, saw First Quantum acquire 15% of the shares in Prospect Resources Limited in addition to several investor rights, including a seat on the board of Prospect Resources, pursuant to a subscription and investors rights agreement.
The HFW team was led by Corporate and Commercial partner Bryn Davis, assisted by associate Peter Hiotis.
