Ruth is a member of the knowledge management team at HFW with a particular focus on shipping. She focuses on the provision of knowhow support to the shipping group and its clients, as well as on firmwide KM and legal training projects.
Before joining HFW Ruth was a senior lawyer in the shipping group of a large international law firm, acting for owners, operators, charterers, traders, shipbuilders and P&I Clubs on a wide range of multi-jurisdictional and multi-party disputes including charterparty and cargo disputes, ship sale and purchase, shipbuilding and ship management disputes, as well as related security and enforcement issues. Ruth has experience with High Court disputes and arbitration (LMAA, LCIA, SIAC).
Ruth has undertaken a secondment with a large commodities trading house, and also worked as a senior lawyer for the Government Legal Department, advising on commercial and procurement law, including maritime contracts.
Ruth is a solicitor advocate qualified in England and Wales, and speaks English (native), Spanish (advanced) and French (basic).
