Nikias specialises in shipping litigation, with an emphasis on dispute resolution arising from charterparties, bills of lading, sale and purchase contracts, as well as bunkering and commodities/trade disputes, with a particular focus on the Greek market. He advises ship owners and their insurers in relation to a range of dry and wet shipping matters, having been involved in a number of LMAA arbitrations, High Court proceedings and mediations. He also has significant expertise in transactional matters and regularly assists clients with sale & purchase and financing agreements. Nikias is a qualified lawyer in England and Wales. Following a successful 20 years' career as a professionally qualified surveyor engineer with expertise in construction project management, Nikias joined HFW in 2018, first as a paralegal and subsequently completing his training contract with the firm. Nikias is bilingual (English and Greek) and has a working knowledge of French.
