Marc is an associate in HFW’s shipping team in Dubai, having previously trained and qualified in England and Wales. He specialises in the shipping and logistics sector.

Marc advises on both transactional and contentious matters.

On the transactional side, Marc advises on drafting and negotiating a broad range of corporate and commercial arrangements. This includes Offtake Agreements, Master Service Agreements, General Terms and Conditions of Service, Agency Agreements, as well as portfolio novations and asset acquisitions. In addition, Marc acquired valuable experience of specialist commodity trading agreements (incl. ISDAs, EFETs and SCoTAs) during his secondment in Geneva with one of the leading commodity trading houses.

On the dispute resolution side, Marc focuses on charterparty, bills of lading and sale and purchase disputes. He regularly represents ship owners and operators, cargo owners and traders, charterers, as well as P&I Clubs and underwriters, in both Court and international arbitration. Marc also advises on enforcement of foreign Court judgments and arbitration awards in the Middle East, as well as on vessel arrest and asset attachment in the region.

Marc has been in the Middle East for a number of years, and has accumulated professional experience in Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE. He is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

The firm's Dubai office opened in 2006 and has grown significantly over the years.

Now with 13 partners, 1 legal director and 26 associates, the office offers both GCC clients and international clients with operations in the region an integrated service covering dispute resolution, transactions and regulation across a number of industry sectors. Our team of lawyers, many of whom are Arabic speakers, come from diverse backgrounds and have a strong understanding of and established working relationships with government departments, regulatory bodies, agencies and locally qualified lawyers throughout the GCC region. Our experience shows that this facilitates the faster resolution of any difficulties our clients face.
