As to energy and property insurance and reinsurance, he acts in coverage disputes and subrogation claims involving property and business interruption, pipeline damage / pollution, general liability / casualty, CAR, DSU and Control of Well, in both onshore and offshore energy, including construction / Welcar. His experience extends also to the powergen, wind farm, renewables, mining, smelting, general industrial and SME/hospitality sectors, as well as trade credit / political risk / D&O / financial lines. He also acts in professional liability matters relating to all these areas. On the marine side, Jonathan acts in insurance and reinsurance coverage and recovery / defence claims arising from losses worldwide, including hull and machinery damage, groundings / collision, salvage / towage, GA, pollution, defective bunkers, cargo damage / contamination, builder's risk, LOH, War Risks, TDI, and Ports & Terminals. He also acts in charterparty and bills of lading disputes. Jonathan is highly experienced in mediations, arbitration, and court proceedings (both in the UK and in numerous other jurisdictions), and also advises on wordings and policy architecture.

In terms of education, Jonathan read Classics at Oxford University, where he was awarded a scholarship; he also then qualified with top marks in the Membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers examinations, before studying at the College of Law, Chester. He has lectured and published articles on many insurance topics over the years, and he is mentioned in the acknowledgements in Sharp's 'Upstream and Offshore Energy Insurance' (2021 edition).
