James is a Senior Associate in HFW’s BVI office, specialising in complex commercial litigation, with a focus on fraud and insolvency related disputes. He has broad range of experience in the High Court and the Court of Appeal, including both trials and interlocutory relief.

Prior to joining HFW's BVI office in 2022, James was an associate in HFW's Hong Kong and London offices.

He has worked on a wide range of disputes throughout his career - ranging from heavy-weight contentious insolvency litigation (often with an offshore element), a variety of different types of fraud claims, financial services disputes, professional negligence claims, contractual disputes, disputes involving trusts, shareholder disputes, and contentious probate matters, amongst others.

His clients include major domestic and international companies, individuals, insolvency practitioners, creditors and debtors, as well as acting for and against groups of claimants.

James has particular expertise in recovering the proceeds of fraud, and is well versed in injunctions and applications related to such claims.

He is qualified and has practiced in the BVI, England and Wales, Hong Kong, as well as South Africa.
