HFW CONTINUES TO EXPAND GLOBAL CONSTRUCTION TEAM WITH LONDON PARTNER HIRE

Sector-focused law firm HFW has continued to expand its fast-growing global construction practice with the hire of partner Kijong Nam.

Kijong joins the firm's London office from Ince & Co, where he had been a partner since 2011.

He is the eighth construction partner to join HFW in the past 18 months, following hires in Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

HFW previously hired James Harbridge from Trowers & Hamlins in Dubai; Ben Bury from Jones Day in Hong Kong; Alex McKellar from Macpherson Kelley in Melbourne; Ian Gordon and Thomas Wait from Lander & Rogers in Sydney and Perth; Beau McLaren from Dentons in Dubai; and Ben Mellors from construction insurance experts Beale and Company in London.

The firm also promoted Sydney construction lawyer Stephanie Lambert to partner in April 2018.

HFW's construction group now has 17 partners and more than 50 lawyers across 19 international offices. Construction is one of the firm's six core industry groups globally.

Kijong specialises in offshore construction and shipbuilding. He acts for some of the world’s leading shipyards, ship owners, oil and gas companies, contractors and insurance companies.

Kijong is a native Korean speaker. HFW has a leading practice acting for Korean contractors, energy companies and project sponsors.

Kijong Nam, Partner, HFW:

"I am thrilled to join a firm where construction and shipping are such core parts of its global business. My clients will be pleased to know that they can now benefit from HFW's extensive international network and first-class multi-disciplinary team."

Max Wieliczko, Head of Construction, HFW:

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Kijong to our fast-growing team. He is an outstanding lawyer and will be a tremendous asset working as part of our offshore construction and Korea practices. Our international construction team is growing significantly to meet client demand for our specialist advice, and we expect that expansion to continue."

HFW has now added 18 new partners so far in 2018, including nine internal promotions and nine lateral hires in Brussels, Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Rio de Janeiro and Singapore.

HFW also recently entered into a cooperation arrangement with a Brazilian law firm – its seventh international merger or association since January 2016.
