HFW Successfully Defends Kosovo Privatisation Agency In UNCITRAL Arbitration
Global, sector-focused law firm HFW successfully defended the Privatisation Agency of Kosovo (PAK) in an UNCITRAL arbitration relating to one of the country's largest mines.
The Tribunal dismissed all of the claims made against PAK – for expropriation, unjust enrichment and compensation – and also awarded the agency a proportion of its costs of defending the arbitration.
The final hearing in the arbitration was fully remote due to Covid-19 restrictions.
HFW's team advising PAK was led by Michael Buisset in Geneva and also included Patrick Myers and Emma Bud, with assistance from Dawn Hendry, Colin Chen and Anna Bella Inglesi.
The firm instructed Angeline Welsh and Bibek Mukherjee of Essex Court Chambers.
RZZ Law provided Kosovo law advice.
