HFW Partner Claire Womersley Named Among UK's Top 100 Lawyers

HFW partner Claire Womersley has been named by The Lawyer as one of the UK's 'Hot 100' lawyers for 2022.

The Lawyer says that the list "recognises the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar".

Claire specialises in crisis response and litigation arising from marine casualties, and is regularly instructed on the market's highest-profile matters, including the container vessel MV Ever Given, which blocked the Suez Canal for six days in the most significant shipping matter in recent times.

She is a Master Mariner and previously spent almost a decade at sea, reaching the rank of First Officer.

Claire has been awarded the Merchant Navy Medal – a state award within the British honours system – for services to women and diversity in the maritime industry, and in December 2021 was named by trade publication Lloyd's List as one of the 100 most influential people in the maritime industry and one of the market’s top 10 lawyers globally.

Paul Dean, Global Head of Shipping, HFW: “Claire has become one of the shipping industry's go-to lawyers for major marine casualties and crisis response matters, and we're proud to see her excellence and hard work recognised by The Lawyer.”
