Managing the Waste Estate for the Next 25 Years
We are delighted to invite you to an Energy from Waste conference, hosted jointly by HFW and HKA on 23 September 2026.
The conference will focus on “Revamping Ageing Plants”. As many plants across the UK and Europe will soon be approaching the end of their original concession period, we will be examining how the industry can manage the complexities around extending the life of ageing plants and what issues may arise as a result.
Alongside our EfW specialists from HFW and HKA, we will be joined by a number of industry experts including Jeff Gibbon of EfW Consulting Ltd, Ian Crummack of The Cobalt Energy Group, Stuart Hayward-Higham, Chief Technical Development & Innovation Officer, Suez and Jean-François Brua of Martin Renewable Solutions Ltd
The sessions will cover:
- Contractual risk allocation for revamp projects and why the traditional EPC approach is not suitable;
- When is a project suitable for a revamp from a financial, practical and technical perspective;
- Industry expert insights and first hand experiences of revamp projects;
- Contractual liability for revamps and the importance of caps and exclusions; and
- Post revamp works and likely common areas for claims and disputes.
The Conference will conclude with networking drinks on our terrace overlooking the Lloyds building and with views of St Pauls Cathedral.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be a timely and insightful discussion.
