Michelle Chance is a Partner in the Corporate & Commercial group.
She specialises in employment law, primarily acting for SME and PLC employers in the financial services, professional practices, insurance, maritime, energy, commodities, and media sectors. Michelle also represents senior executives, including those at boardroom level, high-profile celebrities and sports personalities, on complex and sensitive employment and partnership matters, often involving discrimination, where both monetary value and reputational risk are significant.
Michelle focuses on high-end complex City and international work. Her experience acting for both employers and executives makes her a formidable negotiator and litigator, enabling her to achieve optimal results for clients. Michelle’s specialist litigation expertise encompasses class action discrimination claims, restrictive covenants and injunctive relief, sexual harassment, whistle-blowing, employment-related FCA matters, internal investigations, and bonus and share disputes. She provides tailored strategic and tactical advice to employer clients on challenging HR issues and has assisted many foreign parent companies, predominantly from the U.S., in establishing their presence in the UK. Michelle also acts for several Middle Eastern employer clients, including those in the ADGM.
Michelle possesses particular expertise in contentious partnership issues, regularly advising partnerships, LLPs, and individual partners on matters such as team moves, restrictive covenants, garden leave, discrimination and legal and operational issues.
