Tom is an accomplished energy, maritime and business lawyer with twenty-eight years of professional experience. He is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried over seventy cases to judgment, with success rate in excess of 80%.

Tom is also experienced in domestic and international arbitration. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants on contingency fee basis or hybrid contingency fee/hourly rate agreements. Representative energy clients have included ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, Marathon Oil Corporation, Noble Corporation, McDermott, Baker Hughes and Schlumberger. Tom has a LL.M. in Energy and Environmental law and is a certified and experienced mediator and arbitrator.

In addition to energy related work, Tom’s practice includes complex business litigation and consulting, insurance law as well as all aspects maritime law (including the Jones Act, Death on the High Seas Act, Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, cargo claims, collisions, Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act, etc.)

Tom is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He has sailed in both licensed and unlicensed positions on tanker, break bulk ship, tug and barges and semi-submersible self-propelled oil rigs. Tom also worked as Operations Manager for a fleet of U.S. flag vessels.

Tom is admitted to practice before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas and all Texas state courts.
