About Victor

Victor specialises in casualty, marine insurance and shipping disputes. 

He started his career as an Articled Clerk in 1989 and one of his early assignments as a junior lawyer was to assist firm’s client, Exxon, in the litigation that arose out of the grounding of the Exxon Valdez. Having developed a taste for shipping litigation, Victor has gone on to pursue a 30+ year career in delivering specialist legal support to the maritime industry. As a result, he has built up a wealth of experience and worldwide contacts and has strong links to Scandinavia, Japan and Italy. He is regularly instructed by clients on a range of matters concerning H&M, P&I and FD&D disputes.

Victor now works as an integral, senior member of the world’s largest specialist marine casualty practice, serviced by over 30 lawyers and mariners globally. He advises on the full range of legal issues that arise from marine and offshore emergencies and recently has been busy as part of the team handling some high profile shipping cases such as the LOF arbitration of the “YANTIAN EXPRESS” and the collision in the Baltic Sea between the “SCOT CARRIER” and “KARIN HOEJ”.

Although having always been based in London, Victor has travelled extensively throughout his career attending on board numerous casualties in the immediate aftermath of an incident to assist the vessel interests secure and preserve the necessary evidence; deal with the regulatory authorities; and to advise on those initial strategy decisions concerning jurisdiction, limitation and security that are so crucial to achieving a successful outcome.
