About Stephen

Stephen specialises in international trade, with a focus on shipping.

He advises on commercial shipping matters such as ship and yacht purchases and sales, port access agreements, charterparties, bills of landing and other shipping documents and commodities contracts, together with underlying financing and inland transportation agreements.

Stephen often advises on contentious matters, representing shipowners, operators and charterers in disputes arising from vessel groundings, cargo infestations, cargo availability and other breaches under sea carriage documents, as well as assisting trading companies in disputes under their purchase/sale contracts. Stephen also represents major cruise lines in defending personal injury claims and other disputes.

Stephen is ranked in Chambers and Legal 500 Directories; Stephen’s practice is described as “wide-ranging and includes work on the exportation and carriage of commodities, as well as the sale and purchase of ships, and marine insurance” (Chambers Asia Pacific). A client comments that Stephen “knows his stuff and works hard” (Legal 500).
