Matthew advises banks, funds, commodity producers and commodity traders on all forms of structured trade and commodity finance including pre-export finance, advanced payment structures, commodity repos & true sale structures, supply chain finance, receivables financing, inventory and warehouse finance, project finance, asset finance, bilateral and syndicated corporate finance, financing leasing, trade finance liquidity programmes, and export credit agency supported transactions. Matthew has previously worked in Dubai, Tokyo and Singapore.
Mining experience:
- Advising Deutsche Bank in relation to a financing of the Kazakh Uranium miner Kazatomprom.
- Advising Deutsche Bank in relation to offtake and financing arrangements for a Thai gold mine and associated structured hedging. Subsequently advising on default of facility and work out.
- Advising multiple banks in relation to multiple financings of coal mines in Indonesia run by Bumi Resources.
- Advising Standard Bank in relation to multiple Mongolian coal financings including for Just Group and Erdenet.
- Advising a major international trader in relation to coal financings in Mongolia involving Erdenet.
- Advising an alternative lender fund in relation to Indonesian coal mine financings.
- Advising Trafigura in relation to prepayments to various mines in multiple Asian jurisdictions.
