About Jo
Jo has extensive experience in the energy and resources, decarbonisation, regulatory and climate change fields. She is passionate about the new energy transition, having guided clients through (what was) the world’s largest hybrid power system for a remote mine site, Australia’s first co-located wind and solar farm, novel virtual battery power solutions, peer-to-peer energy trials and electric vehicle infrastructure issues.
She regularly acts for utilities, offtakers, power project developers and large energy users. Jo has a detailed understanding of the Western Australian electricity market having acted for the state owned electricity generator and retailer on numerous matters.
Her resources experience includes strategic alliances, joint ventures, shareholders agreements, off market transactions, offtake agreements, mine procurement and tendering.
In the climate change space she has acted as the lead lawyer for the New Zealand Government on the implementation of the emissions trading scheme, and later acting for large energy users and sellers on the introduction and then removal of the Australian Carbon Pricing Scheme.
Jo also advises on key regulatory matters, including competition law and anti-dumping investigations.
Jo is qualified in Western Australia (Australia) and New Zealand.
