Communications Senior Executive

We are looking to recruit a Communications Senior Executive to join our Marketing & Business Development department to cover a period of maternity leave.

The Department

The Marketing & Business Development department comprises more than 50 people globally, in four core teams: Business Development, Marketing Operations, Client Development and Communications.

The Communications team is managed by the Head of Communications, based in London, and comprises additional team members in Hong Kong and Australia.

We are collectively responsible for internal and external communications globally, including the firm’s intranet, social media, corporate communications, and PR.

  • improve internal and external understanding of the breadth of the firm’s offering across our sectors, services, and geographies;
  • promote and protect the firm’s brand through proactive and strategic public relations;
  • be recognised internally as a high-performing function that adds value to the business;
  • ensure that our activities support and are aligned to the firm’s strategy; and
  • operate as a friendly, professional, and supportive team.

The Role

This is an integral role to the Communications team, responsible for managing day-to-day communications on the firm’s intranet and social media channels.

This role reports directly to the firm’s Head of Communications and works closely with the Communications team, the wider M&BD team, and key stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

This is a varied role, with key responsibilities including:

Internal communications

  • Manage the news page of the firm’s intranet, including building and maintaining a pipeline of content, and drafting and reviewing copy.
  • Proactively seek out stories that highlight the firm’s strategy and priorities, including those relating to our client development programmes, internal referrals and other collaboration across the business (particularly between Groups and Offices), our people, and our values.
  • Produce monthly London office newsletter.
  • Manage the firm’s PC lock screens and e-mail signature banners, including building and maintaining a pipeline of content.
  • Provide communications support to the rest of the business, as required.

Social Media

  • Manage the firm’s LinkedIn and Twitter accounts, including maintaining a pipeline of content, and drafting and reviewing posts.
  • Proactively seek out suitable social media content that highlights the firm’s offering and values.
  • Provide internal training and support for LinkedIn, as required.

Content Marketing

  • Manage the firm’s quarterly Sustainability and Alumni magazines, including liaising with an external copywriter.

Legal Directories

  • Manage the firm’s profiles with Chambers and The Legal 500.
  • Manage the production of reports detailing HFW rankings and commentary when new editions of Chambers and The Legal 500 are published.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a communications role.
  • Experience within a law firm or other professional services environment is not essential, but preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write accurate, engaging, and concise copy.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated, with a journalistic approach to finding stories from across the business.
  • Enjoys working as part of a friendly and supportive team.
