A new report has revealed that HFW’s international litigation caseload more than doubled in 2018.

HFW handled 21 cases in the English Courts on behalf of overseas litigants last year, according to The Lawyer’s Litigation Tracker – up from 10 in 2017. The firm litigated for clients from China, the UAE, Switzerland and the Marshall Islands, among others.

The Lawyer’s data also ranks HFW as the second most active firm for commercial litigation in the English Courts in 2018, with nine cases, and the third most active law firm in the English Commercial Court, with 13 cases, putting it between Magic Circle firms Allen & Overy and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Noel Campbell, Head of Commercial Litigation, HFW: “We are extremely pleased that the strength and breadth of our global litigation practice has once again been recognised by The Lawyer. Dispute resolution is at the very core of our business as a firm and we frequently litigate on behalf of our clients in courts around the world.”

The Lawyer’s research has previously been shown HFW to be the most active law firm for commercial litigation in the English Courts, the most active law firm in the English Commercial Court over 2016 and 2017, the most active law firm for arbitration-related litigation, and the fifth most active law firm litigating on behalf of FTSE 100 clients. HFW was described by The Lawyer in a recent report as “the standout firm in commercial litigation”.

HFW has one of the largest and most active disputes practices in the market, with 350 specialist disputes lawyers globally. Contentious work accounts for more than 65 percent of the firm’s total revenue.
