In line with the firm’s focus on sector specialisation and reflecting the firm’s international reach and client base, Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) has today announced promotions across our London, Brussels and Hong Kong offices of three Partner and four Legal Directors – a newly created role in recognition of an alternative career to partnership. The promotions are effective from 1 April 2017.
Stéphanie Golinvaux (Brussels) has joined the partnership and advises on the full range of legal issues relating to the aviation sector, including regulatory, financing and liability issues. She has significant experience in air disasters, airline traffic rights issues, state aids and competition law.
Gavin Hadfield (London) joins the partnership as the Global Risk Partner for the firm and the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice and is responsible for the firm’s risk management and compliance.
Andrew Williams (London) has joined the partnership and has a broad commercial and commodities practice which combines both dispute resolution and transactional / advisory matters. Andrew specialises in hard commodities and acts for a number of oil majors, traders and utilities. His general dispute resolution work spans a wide range of areas including banking, financial services, commercial and general contract / tort disputes.
Lee Tam (Hong Kong) is promoted to Legal Director and is a personal injury specialist and advises airlines and airport service providers and their insurers on personal injury claims, employers’ liability, recovery claims and criminal prosecutions.
Catherine Emsellem-Rope (London) is promoted to Legal Director. Catherine is a transactional lawyer who specialises in complex contractual arrangements in the logistics, ports & terminals and energy sectors, with a focus on major projects and supply chain issues. Before joining HFW, she spent nine years in the logistics sector working for a world leading logistics company and a major UK logistics specialist where she was Senior Counsel.
In Commodities, Patrick Knox (London) and John Rollason (London) are promoted to Legal Director. Patrick’s main work areas are a mixture of “long haul” international trade and shipping litigation, but also providing day to day “short haul” fire-fighting support to clients in the course of the operation of their contracts. John advises clients conducting international trade, acting in particular for producers, traders and banks in soft commodities and oil trading.
Richard Crump, HFW’s Senior Partner said: “we are delighted to welcome these high calibre individuals as Partners and Legal Directors, the range of skills they bring will continue to enhance and strengthen the services we offer to our clients globally. We’re also very excited for the newly created position of Legal Director, a position implemented in recognition that many of our exceptional individuals desire an alternative to the traditional partnership.”
