The Lloyd’s List Awards series recognises the industry’s successes, setting a benchmark for excellence while rewarding innovative ideas and concepts that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible.
The i-Law Maritime Lawyer of the Year award was collected by Yaman Al Hawamdeh, Holman Fenwick Willan’s Head of Shipping for the Middle East, and Shipping Partner Richard Strub at yesterday’s awards held at the striking Palazzo Versace Hotel in Dubai.
Yaman Al Hawamdeh, commented: “We are delighted to be recognised by this prestigious award. The judges felt that Holman Fenwick Willan continues to lead the way with legal precedents in the maritime sector in the Middle East , having demonstrated a willingness to expand into new sectors, such as commodities to cement its position in the region.
Recipients are chosen from entries taken from the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent region and adjudicated by a distinguished judging panel which this year included: Craig Eason, Chair of Judging Panel and Deputy Editor of Lloyd’s List; Captain Saleem Alavi, Former Maritime Adviser and Director of the UAE Ship Registry, Adviser to the National Transport Authority; Kamal Alawadhi, Former Commercial Manager, planning at KOTC; Adel Jebara Alfalahi, Adviser, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC); Captain Ahmed Al-Mas, Adviser to Chairman, Qatar Port Management Company; Abdul Hayee, Fleet Manager, Gulf Ship Management; Marcus Machin, Director- Middle East, Tufton Oceanic; Captain Tamer Masoud, Harbour Master, Port of Fujairah; Fahmi Mukahyer, Lawyer and former NTA legal adviser, Al Huqooq Law Firm; Zahid Rahman, Private Consultant; Mariwan Said, Head of Shipping Department, Qaiwan Group; Manish Saigal, Managing Director, Alvarez & Marsal.
The Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards 2016 was attended by more than 300 industry professionals and is managed by Lloyd’s List – leading maritime commerce since 1734.
