Trade finance risk mitigation in EMEA
HFW will be hosting a seminar to discuss the operational risks and the insurance asset recourses for lenders. Presentations will be given by HFW Partners, Janet Butterworth, Ian Chung and John Barlow, as well as HFW Consultant Carol-Ann Burton.
Date
11 March 2014
Location
The Metropole Hotel, Geneva
Summary
In a number of EMEA countries, there are many underlying risks in trade finance transactions, particularly where assets and customers are based in multiple jurisdictions. Given the current level of operational and other risks in this region, there has been an increase in the use of credit risk insurance. This allows risk transfer, but also the possibility of regulatory capital relief.
During the seminar the following topics will be addressed:
- Jurisdictional and legal risks and issues that may occur in the Middle East and Africa
- The use of insurance policies for effective unfunded credit risk mitigation, or how to get regulatory capital relief using your credit policies
- How banks can maximise their security under insurance policies
- Case study
