Summary
The late 2000s financial crisis has deeply disrupted the financial markets and still generates new regulatory standards. Among them is the internationally agreed Basel III Accord. It is a common view that this Accord has a severe impact on trade finance and for some players it is easier to exit the business altogether, instead of trying to adapt. This conference aims to present a different view, that the regulatory changes to trade finance are not as devastating as they may seem, and together with the challenges they also bring new opportunities.
HFW and a number of leading trade finance experts will make presentations on the following broad topics:
- National implementing measures and calculation of capital requirements
- Risks in trade finance transactions
- Risk mitigation techniques
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on opportunities and new trends in the trade finance business.
