Summary

As part of our ongoing focus on Sustainability, and further to our recent film Making Waves: the Future of Shipping, we would like to invite you to the second in our series of Sustainability focused webinars.

There is an ever-increasing demand for transport that is sustainable in terms of the impact it has on society, our environment, and the climate. Whilst there are signs that positive progress is being made, the shipping sector's path to achieving sustainable practices is unlikely to be linear. It will require multiple stakeholders to participate and collaborate across the sector in order to overcome challenges and adapt to ever-evolving landscapes.

Our guest speaker, Andreas Brachel – Vice President, Head of Environmental Claims at Gard A. S., shares his perspective on:

  • The role of a marine insurer in an ESG-conscious market;
  • How the marine insurance market is responding to existing and emerging risks and contributing towards a sustainable shipping sector.

Andreas Brachel is a lawyer specialised in Maritime and International law and his professional focus has always been towards environmental and casualty related claims. As Head of Environmental Claims in Gard, he is responsible for the handling of pollution, environmental salvage and wreck removal claims in Gard globally as well as Gard’s Global Crisis Management System. Andreas is responsible for the implementation of ESG goals in Gard’s global claims operation.

This presentation will be followed by an interactive Q&A Session.
