Monika Mečević is a Senior Associate in HFW's Perth office. Monika Mečević specialises in complex commercial litigation and insolvency disputes primarily in the energy and resources and banking and finance sectors. Monika has appeared in the Federal Court, the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria, and has had carriage of matters in the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Supreme Court of Queensland, Supreme Court of New South Wales, Supreme Court of Victoria, the WA Court of Appeal and in the courts of England & Wales. Monika's clients have included mining companies, engineering companies, financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and secured and unsecured creditors.

Recent work includes: 

• Representing secured parties with respect to a dispute as to the payment of Secured Moneys pursuant to a Share Sale Agreement (Supreme Court Victoria).
• Representing the defendants to claims for misuse of confidential information and springboard claims arising from the termination of a key employee by a competitor (Supreme Court WA).
• Representing shareholders to a large unlisted engineering company with respect to a shareholder dispute including claims for breach of contract, misleading or deceptive conduct, and s. 232 claims (Supreme Court NSW). 
• Advising the administrator of a technology company with respect to the sale of its assets, including representing the administrators with respect to an application for directions pursuant to s. 90-15 of the Corporations Act (Federal Court). 
• Advising a large group of investors with respect to the acquisition of a superannuation financial technology company, including liaising with the Australia Prudential Regulation Authority for requisite approvals.
