More about Guy

Guy has an unusually broad practice covering energy, commodities, utilities and arbitration reflecting his experience in the Firm's London, Singapore and Hong Kong offices.

He graduated in law from Cambridge University, qualified in England and Wales as a solicitor and practised initially as a shipping lawyer in London. He then spent 10 years in Hong Kong where he was admitted to practice in 1988 covering mainly commodities and utilities (electricity and telecoms). On returning to London, he specialised in energy mainly in the North Sea covering all aspects of development and production and both transactional advice and dispute resolution. He also represented clients in disputes relating to coal, oil and gas supply contracts including significant arbitrations under LCIA, ICC and UNCITRAL Rules.

After a period in Singapore where he advised on a broad mix of commodities matters covering trade finance and derivatives as well as disputes under SIAC arbitration Rules and also energy mainly upstream contracting, he returned to Hong Kong in 2013 where he continues to practice in the commodities, energy and utilities sectors and represents one of the two electricity suppliers in a long running dispute with the Hong Kong Government.
