Summary

The Capital Link 4th Annual Greek Shipping Forum was held in Athens on 27 February 2013. The Shipping and Bank Finance Discussion Panel was moderated by HFW Associate, Jasel Chauhan for a third year, with a high profile selection of panellists this year, including Dagfinn Lunde (Head of Investment Strategy and Member of the Board of Managing Directors at DVB Bank), Shreyas Chipalkatty (Director at Citibank Global Shipping) and George Arcadis (Chief Representative, Energy, Commodities & Transportation at ABN Amro).

Representing the Greek State, Konstantinos Moussouroulis (Minister of Shipping, Maritime Affairs & the Aegean) also spoke at the conference which saw HFW's long standing client, Captain Panagiotis N. Tsakos of Tsakos Energy Navigation presented with the Capital Link Leadership Award. HFW also hosted a lunch table at the event which included representatives from Navios Maritime Holdings Inc., HSBC Bank Plc, Credit Suisse AG, Aspida Maritime Security Corp. and FreeSeas Inc. HFW Partners, Alistair Mackie and Dimitris Exarchou and HFW Associate, Jasel Chauhan represented HFW at the event.

The panel discussion is usually a lively event and this year was no exception, with some good-hearted disagreement between Dagfinn Lunde and Shreyas Chipalkatty. The discussion itself was reported in Lloyd's List online with a few headline grabbing statements from Dagfinn Lunde. The event is regularly attended by over 1,000 delegates and this year is likely to have achieved the same level of attendance and represented excellent exposure for HFW and CPF's capabilities in the Greek market.
