Wagner is a Solicitor (England and Wales), as well as a qualified Brazilian and Portuguese lawyer, with an LLM in Maritime Law (Southampton) and Oil & Gas Law (Aberdeen). Wagner has also successfully concluded his exams for membership with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS).

For more than two years Wagner practiced Brazilian law and, after moving to England, he gained two years of experience in P&I insurance at Steamship Mutual, dealing mainly with FD&D claims. Wagner joined HFW in 2009 where he deals with all aspects of maritime and trade law, including drafting of shipping and commodity contracts, as well as disputes arising from Bills of Lading, charterparties, reinsurance and sale & purchase contracts, along with disputes in the offshore oil and gas sector. Wagner has also developed expertise in the carriage of gas cargoes and complex vessel detention/arrest disputes.

A six month secondment with Brazilian mining company Vale also adds to Wagner's industry experience.
